November 3, 2026 – TheNewswire - VANCOUVER, B.C. — Baru Gold Corp. (BARU: TSX.V | BARUF: OTCQB) (“Baru” or the “Company”), through its 70%-owned Indonesian subsidiary PT Tambang Mas Sangihe (“TMS” or the “Company”), is pleased to announce that the North Sulawesi Provincial Police are currently executing a major, multi-day law enforcement operation targeting industrial-scale illegal mining within the Company’s Contract of Work area on Sangihe Island.
The operation is targeting the industrial-scale illegal mining. This operation followed a coordinated, multi-day planning process involving internal police planning, surveillance, intelligence gathering and investigation.
The operation was led by the North Sulawesi Provincial Police. Senior officials, including the Head and Deputy Head of Criminal Investigation, are directly supervising the operation on-site and are being supported by members of the Internal Security Division and a substantial detachment of police personnel
The raid followed a series of formal criminal reports filed by the Company and a number of complaints by local community members about illegal mining to the North Sulawesi Provincial Police. Company management actively supported the authorities by providing information and intelligence to assist in identifying the locations and priorities for directed enforcement action.
The enforcement operation targeted illegal mining infrastructure and activities associated with individuals against whom the Company has commenced civil proceedings seeking approximately CAD$74 million in damages, as announced on October 19, 2026
Summary of Ongoing Enforcement Actions
The police operation commenced on Sangihe Island on October 29, 2026, and remains ongoing. Key actions taken to date include:
-
Elimination of Processing Infrastructure: Authorities secured and disabled eleven active heap leach processing facilities, representing all known illegal processing infrastructure operating within the Contract of Work area. The Company estimates illegal miners were attempting to process approximately CAD $3 million worth of material.
-
Destruction of Support Bases: Base camps and associated supply depots were physically dismantled and destroyed, including the confirmed destruction of a primary base camp belonging to illegal mining operator Lukas Lumape.
-
Seizure of Heavy Machinery: Heavy equipment linked to the illegal operations has been immobilized. Law enforcement is actively tracing machine ownership to support pending criminal prosecutions.
-
Perimeter Security Established: Police tape and armed personnel remain stationed around all heavy equipment and heap leach pads to prevent unauthorized re-entry.
The scale and coordinated nature of this raid represent a major breakthrough in dismantling illicit operations prior to the Company’s resumption of formal production.
Support for Civil Litigation & Criminal Charges
The Company continues to work closely with the North Sulawesi Provincial Police to advance criminal charges against those responsible for the theft of state assets and environmental damage.
The timing of this enforcement action is particularly significant for TMS's active civil lawsuit seeking approximately IDR 951 billion (approx. CAD $74 million) in damages, as announced on October 19, 2026. Evidence formally gathered during these raids, including seized equipment, site documentation, and any resulting criminal charges, will provide additional evidentiary support for the Company's civil claims.
Securing the Project Area Ahead of Legitimate Operations
Securing Sangihe Island is a critical prerequisite for commencing legitimate mining operations. The Company hopes that this operation will provide the foundation for continued enforcement action against those responsible and prevent the re-establishment of illegal processing activities.
However, while periodic police action is a crucial first step, the Company maintains that long-term security and the permanent elimination of illegal mining will be achieved only once the Company resumes site operations.
Terrence Filbert, Chief Executive Officer of Baru Gold, commented, “This is exactly the step forward the Company requires as we can move directly into production once our final approval is granted.
I will continue to support the police investigation and pursue appropriate criminal charges against those responsible. Disabling and securing all active heap leach pads, the immobilisation of the heavy equipment and the demolition of the supporting base camps represent an enduring disruption to the illegal mining operations.
This is a very significant development. I am very happy to see the North Sulawesi Provincial Police undertake this decisive enforcement action.”
